Opens on the book's Market Batch with the SoapCalc profiles Chapter 5 cites. Change the percents, or type another oil's profile from your supplier or SoapCalc.
Each oil: % of the oils and its fatty-acid profile, eight figures in this order: lauric myristic palmitic stearic ricinoleic oleic linoleic linolenic. Prefilled with the SoapCalc profiles the book cites (Chapter 5); type your oil's.
The formula
- Hardness = lauric + myristic + palmitic + stearic; cleansing = lauric + myristic
- Conditioning = oleic + linoleic + linolenic + ricinoleic; bubbly = lauric + myristic + ricinoleic; creamy = palmitic + stearic + ricinoleic
- The blend's figure = Σ (each oil's share × its figure); iodine and INS the same way from each oil's own value
- Linoleic + linolenic: a rule of thumb keeps it at or under about 15 % to slow rancidity
Ranges are SoapCalc's suggested ranges: guides from experience, not tested limits. Profiles vary from batch to batch and supplier to supplier; your supplier's sheet beats any table.
