Every Angle · sizuriatto.com/go/angle-printables

One small square is 5 mm, one bold square 10 mm: at 1 : 100, 10 mm on the paper is 1 m on the ground. The book's house fits in 100 × 80 mm. For the whole plot use 1 : 200 (5 mm to the meter): the book's 15 × 30 m plot is 75 × 150 mm. Draw the street at the bottom and mark north.

Print at 100%, glue to thin card, cut round the outline. Fold the strip back along the dashed line over a drinking straw and tape it. Push a pin through the dot, tie a thread to it and hang a washer or a coin on the thread. Sight the top of the tree or the eaves through the straw, pinch the thread against the card, and read the angle.

One line a camera: where it goes, how high, which way it points, how far it reaches and where it is blind (Chapters 4 to 9). The book's five cameras and doorbell are printed first; your plan goes in the second table. Every camera's reaches come from its own datasheet: reach = pixels ÷ (density × 2 tan(HFOV ÷ 2)); blind spot = height ÷ tan(tilt + half the tall view).

The book's plan

The book's camera: 2,560 px, 100° wide, 53° tall, 2.7 m up, tilted 20° down, so every one identifies to 4.30 m, recognizes to 8.59 m and is blind for the first 2.56 m. The doorbell: 1,920 px, 140°, 1.2 m up.

The approach routes

Draw every route someone could walk from the street or a boundary to a door, and walk each one on paper: at every step, is it inside at least one camera's view, after the walls cut the views back?

RouteLengthBook: four camerasBook: five camerasYours: blind stretches
Front path, street to front door5.4 mseenseen
Drive, street to side gate10.0 mseenseen
West passage, gate to back garden7.5 mabout 90 % blindseen
Back fence to back door14.9 mseenseen

Keep it on your side. For every camera, shade the part of its view beyond your boundary, then re-aim it or plan a privacy mask. Plan audio off, and plan the sign (Chapter 10's Stop Line). Cable runs: one entry hole, scanned with a detector first; every run under 100 m in all.

Template C — The Call It Log

Every Angle · sizuriatto.com/go/angle-printables

One line a chapter. Where a chapter makes two calls (Chapters 3, 5 and 8), score each and log the better one, so every chapter is worth up to 3 points. Write the call before you measure, in pen. Gap = (measured − call) ÷ measured, ignoring the sign. Within 5 % scores 3 points, within 10 % scores 2, within 20 % scores 1; beyond that 0, and find out why, because that is the chapter. Some numbers can only be measured once the cameras are up: those lines are checked in Chapter 11.

Ch.What you callYour callMeasuredGapPoints
1Your front wall's length by pacing; then tape it
2Your drive's (or a paved area's) area from the plan; then tape it
3The ladder's foot distance and length for your mounting point (two calls)
4The true bearing your front wall faces, from a map; then a compass
5Your eaves (and a tree) by shadow; then by clinometer (two calls)
6Your phone camera's pixels per meter at 3 m; then photograph a 1 m stick
7The near blind spot under your first camera (checked in Chapter 11)
8Blind stretches on your routes, and the share seen (two calls; checked in Chapter 11)
9Your longest cable run; then a tape or string along the walls
10The days of recording your drive will hold (checked in Chapter 11)
 Your points, out of 30

Each chapter's own Call It box says exactly what to call and how to check it; where it and this line differ, follow the chapter. For a count (Chapter 8's blind stretches), the same count scores 3 points and one out scores 1.

Template D — The Quote-Check Sheet

Every Angle · sizuriatto.com/go/angle-printables

Every price here is illustrative: US store prices and cost-guide labor rates seen in November 2026, without a currency sign. The book's example quote was written for this book; it is not a real firm's. A quote check is a list of good questions, not an accusation.

The book's quote, line by line (Chapter 10)

LineInstaller's quoteBook's estimateQuote − estimate

Doorbell camera, supplied and fitted180215.00−35.00
Total2,7802,485.59+294.41

The estimate is store price × 1.5 (an example 50 % markup) for the equipment, and 140 a camera plus an hour at 65 for the labor. The gap: (2,780 − 2,485.59) ÷ 2,780 = 10.6 %, inside 15 %: the Quote level. The questions it raises: the cameras carry a 77.8 % markup (160 against 90); the recorder a fair 48.6 %; the labor is 2.4 hours a camera at 85 an hour. The cable line is cheaper than the book's, because installers buy cable by the 1,000 ft box. A quote can be low on a line.

Questions worth asking any installer. What markup is on each camera, and which model is it (read its pixels and lens: Chapter 6)? What do the hours include: the survey, the drilling, the aiming, the setup on your phone? Is any of the work mains wiring, and who does it? Where will each camera point, and what will it see beyond your boundary? Is audio switched off? What happens when a camera drops off the network in January?

Markup and margin. Markup = profit ÷ cost; margin = profit ÷ price. A 50 % markup is a 33.3 % margin. Ask which one a quote means.

Template E — The Night-Walk Checklist

Every Angle · sizuriatto.com/go/angle-printables

The Build is scored by the world, on one walk after dark (Chapter 11). You watch every camera's live view; a helper walks every approach route slowly, from the street or the back fence to a door. Mark each stretch where they vanish from every picture, and tape its length. Do it with the lights you will really have on, and tell the neighbors first if your helper will be walking near their side.
