Grow by Numbers · Chapter 11

The Harvest Score

You called it, you grew it, you weighed it. Enter the first eight trays and the scale sets the score: Gold, Silver or Bronze.

Home › Calculators › The Harvest Score

Opens with the book's planning figures as the calls for the Microgreen Shelf's first eight trays. Put in your own calls, then the cut days and weights.

The first eight trays: called before the cut, then weighed (Template B)

The Business level (optional)

Enter your calls, cut days and weighings, then press Calculate.

The formula

  • Each tray's gap = (weighed − called) ÷ weighed, ignoring the sign: within 5% scores 3 points, 10% scores 2, 20% scores 1
  • Total gap = (total weighed − total called) ÷ total weighed; day miss = cut day − called day, ignoring the sign
  • Gold: total within 10% and every tray within 1 day; Silver: within 20% and 2 days; Bronze: eight trays cut, weighed and logged
  • Business level: break-even trays called against the trays it took, scored the same way
The book's worked example, Chapter 11. The book's planning figures make the first eight calls: radish day 9 and 280 g, broccoli day 12 and 300 g, sunflower day 10 and 400 g, pea day 11 and 225 g: 2,410 g called for the eight trays. The Business level calls 16 trays to pay back the kit.
Check it. Call from your own first round for the second round, not from the book's figures: your calls should close in.

Honest limits. The book's figures are planning numbers worked out on paper, not a target your shelf must hit; a level is a record of how well you called your own shelf. The Microgreen Shelf was worked out on paper from published figures, not grown by us: weigh and measure your own. Prices are illustrative US prices from October 2026, shown without a currency sign; put in your own. Everything stays in your browser: no sign-up, nothing stored.
